Hello and welcome to Lottie’s Laments, an everyday tale of the ups and downs, and woes and wonders of life as a self-producing performer who likes reading and cats.
I’m Lottie. As well as performing and producing my one woman shows I produce shows that other people appear in. Usually one person plays with no set and one costume as that’s the cheapest way to do it. I’m also a lapsed tour guide, a charity trustee and I do a bit of admin on the side. This portfolio career changes like the wind – you’ll be the first to know of any new developments…
I might write about any of the above, about some of the many books I’m reading (there are always too many on the go at any one time), or my cat. But rest assured I’ll be bringing you the inside information of what it’s like trying to eke out a living in the business we call show when you’re a one woman band. It’s not a pretty sight, but I hope to be entertaining and I hope you’ll stick around to have a giggle with me, cheer me on in the good times and offer tea and comfort in the bad.
Talking of tea, I’m off to make a cuppa and pick up one of those books. I’ll tell you about it when I’ve finished it.
